18th Asian Games : Dutee Chand Narrowly Misses Gold In Women’s 100 M, Bags Silver Medal

In a remarkable comeback of sorts , sprinter Dutee Chand’s whose future as athlete was in crisis after she was suspended by the IAAF in 2014 under its hyperandrogenism policy and later on going on to win the case in the court of arbitration after she filed an appeal , bounced back to silence her critics at the 18th Asian Games at Jakarta

In a thrilling women’s 100 m finals Dutee Chand clinched at the Asian Games 2018. It was India’s first medal in 20 years in this event.

Running in lane number 7, Dutee clocked 11.32 seconds, a tad below her national record of 11.29 seconds.

Odiong Edidiong of Bahrain won the gold in 11.30 while Wei Yongli of China took the bronze in 11.33 in a close finish.

Chand’s sterling show  the track has added another medal  to India’s tally. Which at the time of filing this report stands at 36.  7 Gold , 10 Silver and 19 Bronze Medals
