Congress party has made it clear that while hitting out the rival BJP , it’s leaders need to choose  their words carefully.
This diktat comes after Shashi Tharoor , Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram, had remarked that if the BJP came to power in 2019, it will pave the way for creation of a “Hindu Pakistan” and re- write the Constitution.

Amidst the furore,  Shashi Tharoor  was quick to clarify what he meant by his statement in a tweet.

Congress’ communication in-charge Randeep Surjewala, in a series of tweets , said, “India’s values and fundamentals are an unequivocal guarantee of our civilisational role & set us apart from the divisive idea of Pakistan.”
“All Congress leaders must realise this historic responsibility bestowed upon us while choosing words and phraseology to reject BJP’s hatred,” he said.

Surjewala attacked the Modi government, alleging that it thrives upon “an unprecedented atmosphere of division, bigotry, hatred, intolerance and polarisation” for the last four years.

He asserted that the Congress represents India’s civilisational values of pluralism, diversity, compassion and harmony between faiths and ethnicities.

Former vice -President Hamid Ansari did not say much when asked about Tharoor’s comment. Instead he said reportedly, “I haven’t read what Shashi Tharoor has said. But he is a well-educated man, a writer, Member of Parliament (MP) and the Chairman of the external affairs committee of the Parliament. He makes thoughtful considerations..”
