The network ABC has opted to cancel the terrorism drama  Quantico. Its season 3 finale will now serve as the series ender, reports deadline.com.

Quantico, from ABC Studios and producer Mark Gordon, was a breakout when it debuted in 2015, setting delayed viewing lift records. But with its dense narrative and heavy serialisation, the series started to lose momentum in the second half of its first season and continued to see declines through season 2 and into season 3.

Quantico features Bollywood superstar actress Priyanka Chopra as an FBI recruit framed for a bombing attack. The show’s current season, which premiered last month, will continue to air through mid-July, reported Variety.

Three episodes into its third season, Quantico is averaging a 0.5 rating in the 18-49 demo and 2.3 million total viewers, according to Nielsen live-plus-same day numbers.

Created by Joshua Safran, the show starred Priyanka as Alex Parrish — an FBI recruit who joins the agency after graduating from the FBI Academy and becomes a prime suspect of a terrorist attack on Grand Central Terminal.

Season three saw Alex going back to navigating the dangerous waters of the CIA that she left behind when she retired to Italy. The Indian actress got global acclaim after the show and also won two People’s Choice Awards for her role.

The show is aired  on Star World and Star World HD.

Priyanka Chopra herself had hinted before the 3rd series show got aired that she would not like to repeat herself in season 4 . She had in- fact after season 3 decided to return to Bollywood. She will stage a comeback in superstar Salman Khan’s ambitious venture Bharat. It will be her first Bollywood movie since 2016.

Meanwhile , Designated Survivor, which revolves around a low-level Cabinet member who becomes president after a terrorist attack on the Capitol, has been cancelled after two seasons.

Though Quantico has been profitable for ABC, it was a difficult series to make logistically as production took place in Toronto, the writers room is in Los Angeles, and creator David Guggenheim is based in New York.

Apart from Quantico and Designated Survivor, ABC has also cancelled Zach Braff’s comedy series Alex, Inc, The Crossing, an acclaimed allegorical sci-fi drama series that’s only aired six episodes, Kevin (Probably) Saves the World, and The Mayor.

The network, however, renewed The Goldbergs, The Good Doctor, Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family, Speechless and Roseanne.
