The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has clearly expressed their unhappiness with Team India’s official kit sponsor, Nike after they seem to have provided the Men in Blue with sub-standard clothing. It is not only the BCCI which is peeved over the matter, the Indian cricket team led by Virat Kohli too had also expressed concerns over the issue.

Nike, who has been associated with the Indian cricket team since 2006, last year struck a deal worth Rs 370 crores to get the official kit sponsorship rights, in a contract that extended till September 2020.

“It (Nike’s clothing) has come up for discussion in last COA meeting and chairman CoA (Vinod Rai) took it very strongly. The team cannot have sub-standard kits and we will be engaging with Nike and he has asked to put our case strongly. We have to engage with them, we will have a meeting with them (Nike) next week and try to resolve it at earliest,” Rahul Johri ( BCCI CEO)said.

According to the Indian Express, BCCI CEO Rahul Johri and General Manager game development Ratnakar Shetty had raised the issue to the Committee of Administrators (CoA), in which Vinod Rai expressed his concerns.
